Guest Teaching Artist
$50 / hour

Omaha Girls Rock invites creative and experienced teaching artists to apply to serve in our after-school program for the 2017-2018 school year. In this position the guest artist will work at one of three participating middle schools in the Omaha Public Schools system.

OGR employs cis-gendered and trans women as well as gender nonconforming folks who have completed a high school education and work in the following disciplines:

- Vocal music
- Instrumental music
- Songwriting
- Storytelling
- Musical theatre
- Sound engineering
- Radio & TV broadcasting
- Booking & Promotion of musical events
- Other music-related disciplines - we’re open to your unique talents!

Teaching Artist Responsibilities Include:

Working with Omaha Girls Rock’s program director to create new or adapt existing curriculum that both utilizes the artist’s talents and aligns with OGR’s mission.
Collaborating with site directors and communicating regularly and clearly with OGR leadership.
Submitting complete lesson plans, timesheets, and other vital administrative documentation in a timely manner.
Attend required training sessions.

Criteria:

OGR is looking for artists with the following qualities:

Artistic fluency, including depth of knowledge within discipline and quality of work.
Engaging teaching and willingness to improve and learn teaching and classroom management skills.
Professionalism, including responsive communication, ability to plan with others, ability to articulate goals and conflicts, and ability to adapt to varying student populations.

Time + Compensation:
Time commitment will be two days a week, one hour per day (exact time TBA, will be between 3pm and 5pm) for an eight-week session. Artists can and are encouraged to apply to work multiple eight week sessions.

Teaching artists will be paid $50/hour
